The Bombazines – Now’s the Question

Former members of other musical projects born in Oporto with different styles but comproved quality have gathered to create The Bombazines. They are strong in their intentions of tripping through out of season songs, based on a “rougher” and “dirtier” side of the soul/funk tradition – on that rare groove fase, clearing land to the p-funk, way psychedelic, on the 60’s/70’s crossline. By the hands of Eurico Amorim, the vintage keyboards are (omni)present, almost as a solo instrument, while Marta Ren transforms herself with astonishing old school funk vocalizations. But the psychedelic trip doesn’t end here. When Rui “Gon” steps in, there are hardcore jams that takes us both to nowadays rock and to the “Madchester” of the 80’s/90’s transitons, where reenacts of rare groove had already taken place with the first rave boom as background (Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Primal Scream…). The Bombazines are an hallucinated sound trip to the past, sounding extremely modern. Their songs breed coherence, maturity, solidity, timelessness and lots of fun!

Band members: Marta Ren – vocals (ex-Sloppy Joe), Rui Silva “Gon” – vocals (ex-Zen, Mata Tu Patrón and Hiena), Miguel Barros – bass guitar (ex-Zen, Hiena and is member of Jorge Palma’s support band), Eurico Amorim – keyboards (ex-Mesa and is related to other projects such as Insert Coin, Lucky Stereo, Supernada and Sizo) and Nuno Mendes – programming (ex-Bandemónio and founder of Lucky Stereo)
